It was soooooooo exciting, while coming home from dinner tonight we saw a bobcat cross the road...

I angled the car to get a better look with the lights, we watched in total awe. He starred, we starred. then he started cleaning his paws and that's when I realized that we were watching a regular cat except he did not have a tail for some reason!!!!!! Ok it was a big letdown but around the next wooded corner we saw not one but two foxes, they were young and healthy and absolutely beautiful and yes I'm sure they were really foxes!!!!!!

My main goal for the yard this week is to get rid of some more weeds and to deadhead all of the roses and since there are over 300 of them its a time consuming chore.I need to add some annuals to the shallow pots that line the steps to the sunken garden but as of this moment I'm not sure which variety I will choose.I also need to trim some old palm fronds as well as yellow banana leaves.

Tonight walked around the front yard with all of the lights on helped by a beautiful full moon. I made the decision that in the spring I'm going to replace a 10 foot I Roubellini palm with a more dramatic Bismarkia palm.

Last nights party was quite spectacular...

It was our friends from our dinner rotation group. Our first friend to show up was Harry and Claudett, who arrived in a black 1937 Chevy sedan I was in total awe and immediately asked Harry to get some photos, which he promptly took. Then four of us went for a drive and yours truly was in the drivers seat. As we were pulling out of the drive we waved goodbye to the other arriving guest and told them to have fun. We came back 10 minutes later and I took yet another group for a 10 minute drive. I'm telling you it was a great experience, the car is restored to perfection with a corvette engine so it has plenty of power. I gave the requested garden tour all the way to the lake and everyone seemed amazed by the lush growth since the last time they saw it. I chose Latin music for the entire evening and the big hit was the cd I bought in Puerta Vallarta with a dominate pan flute. Thanks to my wife dinner was perfect and the highlight for all of us was that Claudett surprised me with a banana cheesecake and being a gourmet cook I have to tell you it is an experience and so wonderful that words cant explain. I really didn't want to share the cheesecake but its one of those manners things that I had to do. The latter part of the evening we let the two standard poodles out to mingle with the guest. Surprisingly they had great behavior and were actually quite entertaining. So all in all I enjoyed seeing all of these great friends and cant wait for the next PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's 10:25 AM on Saturday, so I cant talk long as I have to get ready for my TV segment

It's an amazing day perfect to work in the yard. I've got a bunch of people coming tonight for a pretty fancy dinner to include our very special friends john and Susanna who is the gourmet cook. We are doing a barbeque filet mignon and a special cheesecake for dessert. My wife is doing the cooking, and she seems to have everything under control as she is doing algebra with the boy.

The painter is now making progress with the front of the house. The garden looks fabulous with just 15 yards of mulch to put down before guest arrive tonight. Very excited - cant wait to see our friends tonight. This a group that rotates to each others homes for dinner and at the end of the evening my mouth will hurt from laughing so much, my wife and I will fight over who gets to sit next to our wild and crazy friends Harry and Claudette. Harry is the crazy one - he will tell outrageously funny stories, including his friendship with the last several presidents of the US of America. He will tell horse stories, too, of Claudette's horses and after his first glass of Mondovi will actually impersonate yours truly. Should be fun I'll write later when I get my work done
